Before you begin with the rock guitar lessons, you need to understand that this will not make you a lead guitar star overnight. When you reach the advanced soloing lessons, you will be confident enough to produce your solos and this will persuade you to play them more often. The advanced rock guitar courses will help you to perform different techniques especially with speed.

Speed is an important part of performing the rock guitar as well as soloing and you will really have to rehearse a lot to be able to move your hand freely across the guitar chords at high speed. Rock Band Network Aims to Revolutionize the Music Video Game Genre

Rock Band Network is the exciting new platform bought to us by MTV Games and Harmonix which will allow any band or artist to submit their songs on Xbox Live, and make them playable tracks in the Rock Band 2 video game.

The network is planned to launch in Mid-November and will provide a brand new avenue for musicians to display their music for all to enjoy. Using special recording software, musicians will be able to transform their song into a playable Rock Band track, upload it on Xbox Live, and allow anyone to download and play it. Unfortunately, the actual authoring process is complex, and not very approachable for the average musician who does not possess extensive recording knowledge.

The basic steps include:

1. Get a master, multi-track recording of your song.

2. Author song. This stage is where the song is transformed from a listenable song to a playable Rock Band track. It’s the most time consuming and important step of the process. The instrument mapping is done for each individual instrument on each difficultly.

3. Upload song to the Rock Band Creators Club for peer review.

4. Once the song has passed peer review, it will be placed on Xbox Live for all to download and enjoy.

An Xbox Live Gold membership and XNA Creators Club account are required for uploading the song. The song must be placed for sale between $1-$3.

Having songs in the Rock Band video game will allow musicians to receive greater exposure of there music and royalties for each download of there songs. Fans will be able to play these artists songs in Rock Band, providing a whole new way of experiencing there music!

Demo of the Granger M100 superplexi amplifier, with various classic rock riffs . www.grangeramp.com for pricing, specs, available options, etc. This amp is all-tube, hand-wired and inspired by the late 60’s era Marshall Superlead, and has a PPIV (Lar-Mar) master volume, and specific component value changes made to my personal preferences. It utilizes Solen and Sozo signal caps, JJ, Sprague, and F&T filter caps, JJ EL34 and ECC83S tubes. PT, OT and choke are Magnetic Components, Inc, made to my specs. The recording is a 2000 Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus (tuned to STANDARD 440 tuning since someone said tuning half step doesn’t demonstrate the true tone of the amp… yeah right!) plugged straight into the amp. The cabinet is a standard 4×12 made of 3/4″ baltic birch loaded with 8 ohm Mojotone BV-25s, wired in series/parallel for 8 ohms. The mic is a Shure SM57, into a dbx386 mic pre, and recorded on a Roland VS-1680. Reverb and tape echo effects added at mixdown. Borderline, A Classic Dance Tune From Madonna

Any collection of the all time classic songs cannot be complete without featuring the world’s most successful female recording artist, Madonna. Yes, that’s right, according to Guinness World Records, there is no other female singer in history that tops her in terms of records sold. Many people have even named her the “Queen of Pop” but she has also received her critics for the quality of her songs.

I can perfectly understand why her songs are criticised, however, it must be remembered that if an entertainer has had so much success in a career lasting more than 25 years, then her music must have something that stirs the imagination and enthusiasm of so many music lovers. This is what makes her a legendary singer, whose greatness was officially recognised by her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “Borderline” is one of her first major successes that launched her to super stardom.

Lyrics-wise, the song expresses the singer’s frustration with their partner’s antics. The singer is madly in love with her partner, however, she feels that her love is being taken for granted judging by his actions. This is why the singer keeps repeating that he is pushing her love over the borderline, driving her crazy because she does not quite know why her partner is acting in a certain manner with her. This is a story and sentiment that many people can relate to, which is a reason for the song’s success.

The music video (not shown above) was the first Madonna video to be highly circulated on MTV, which contributed to her stardom. Madonna has always been known for her innovative and often controversial videos, nevertheless, she is known as a pioneer in the field of music videos, and she has been able to influence today’s generation of artists and their videos.

“Borderline” became Madonna’s second top 10 hit in the US as well as peaking at number 2 in the UK. It probably would have peaked in a higher position if Madonna had been a well-known and established singer at the time of its release. Nevertheless, it gave the world a small glimpse of the potential of this singer from Michigan who would become the most successful female recording artist in music history.

Some facts: Madonna has had 12 number 1 hits in the US and has sold more than 200 million records, both albums and singles over 25 years. In 2008, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Best New Rock Bands Review – Rey Fresco Cover King of the Sea

Is it really one of the best new rock bands? In this article I will discuss one of the best songs from their new album “The People” by undoubtedly an up and coming, maybe even one of the best new rock bands that goes by the name of Rey Fresco.

Mr King of the Sea! Oh yea, we will surely pay a lot of attention to you! (Listen to tune to get my humor there) Question remains, why is this one of the best new rock bands though? There is no doubt that the best new rock bands these days put many many hours into how their individual instruments come into the song. It comes in with a thundering and rolling sensation due to a passionate drum beat by Jenkins. Then, the rhythmical and interesting sound of the harp comes in by Xocoyotzin, there is no way your not moving when you hear this. The deep mystical sound of Roger’s voice draws you into King of the Sea. After hearing this again and again, this is one of the best new rock bands! So, please comment below, but I stand strong with putting them as one of the best new rock bands! I am happy to report there are no big ego’s yet for these guys, because they certainly did not call themselves one of the best new rock bands, but here are a few words from how the Rey Fresco band members experience of the song…

A man’s ocean voyage in a shark’s kingdom. A battle between two worlds in a constant power struggle. This song was inspired and is about Dakuwaqa, the Fijian God of the sharks. We are all intrigued by sharks and we respect them immensely.

A Foodie In St Barth – Eden Rock

Eating out is never exactly a chore in mainland France, and the visitor is in for just as much of a culinary delight on the French Caribbean island of St Barth.

There are over 50 restaurants mentioned in the excellent guide Saint-Barth Tables. It’s available free at the airport and lists all the menus and prices. In addition there are many smaller bars and eateries you might come across on your travels around the island.

Don’t expect too many “local” dishes as apart from fish, just about everything else has to be imported and the fashion seems to be plenty of “fusion food” catering for the most sophisticated and moneyed tastes – which of course are not necessarily the same thing

On the whole the prices aren’t too scary and if your want to be certain of a table, book in advance – especially during high season.

Here’s a pick (not always a recommendation) of some of the places I tried out on my latest trip to St Barth.

Eden Rock, St Jean

Eating almost back-to-back at gourmet restaurants was always going to be more than a little extravagant, but this is St Barth after all, renowned for its quality and breadth of its cuisine and a holiday is the best time for a self-indulgent blow out.

So following an evening tantalizing our taste buds at Le Gaïac, we decided to bust the budget once again, this time at Eden Rock in St Jean.

This was a return engagement of sorts as we had eaten at the same restaurant the previous year, and quite enjoyed it. But at the back of my mind was the nagging memory that Eden Rock tried just a tad too hard to be trendy without necessarily having the real style to match.

The setting is breathtaking it has to be admitted – overlooking the bay at St Jean and offering a superbly illuminated view of the sea and the fish below. Without doubt it’s a magnet for honeymooning couples and there’s probably a certain romance to dining there. But even though it’s undeniably impressive, you know deep down it has something of Las Vegas about it.

It’s a little too easy to come away with the feeling that you haven’t really been offered the real thing – even though the remake is stunning.

Take the staff for example. Needless to say they all had winningly white smiles and wore the ever-trendy black you would (still) expect to find in a place that most obviously considers itself on the cutting edge of fashion.

But the waiters were in tee shirts one size too small to show off their pecs and the waitresses opted for the more classic look, the omnipresent little black number. They were efficient and polite but all the same seemed to be strutting and just a little too hip and sullenly distant to be waiting at tables.

And that was a feeling that sort of spilled over to the menu as well.

To begin with, what was on offer certainly wasn’t what I had been reading hungrily in my “bible” of the island’s restaurants Saint-Barth Tables. It was instead a shortened end-of-season version presented in a super (here’s that word again) trendy metal packaging. Why? Search me.

And here’s a reflection of the kind of place you’re dealing with. Eden Rock is not just a restaurant, a place to go to enjoy a meal. It’s also a hotel and runs a timeshare property business, as one whole page of the menu reminds you with listings that include the offer of a one-bedroomed apartment at a mere €400,000. A snip.

On the food front, which after all was the real reason we went, it turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. It has gourmet-style pricing, that’s for sure, but the chef apparently cannot resist the temptation to mess around with classic dishes that simply don’t need any improvement, and even the abbreviated menu had been altered to fit the day.

The sashimi and maki starter for example included sashimi that had been totally over marinated and maki with a layer of cream cheese. Huh?

And a main course that promised sea bass in a spicy lemongrass sauce was scrapped in favour of monkfish. Last minute changes according to the availability (or not) of fish are not uncommon in any restaurant, but for the prices Eden Rock charges such information should be available to the diner as they are ordering and not five minutes later.

More fiddling around with the dessert left me feeling a little disoriented. It was an admittedly delicious Black Forest gateau, but presented in such a way that it no longer resembled the original in any way. Four corners to the plate with each corner playing host to a separate ingredient.

It struck me as being a little like offering a bowl of ice cream with ice on one side and cream on the other. Why bother – apart from showing that you can be different? Apparently because the chef can I suppose.

For all my criticisms, Eden Rock is probably still worth a visit – perhaps lunch would be a better prospect. This is not a gourmet restaurant in the same league as Le Gaïac. The prices and the setting may be, but the food is just a little too silly and the service is just too slick.

It’s a place to see and probably be seen, a smoothly run enterprise that will clearly attract clientele because of its unique location, but not necessarily those for whom food really matters.

In short, it’s TRENDINESS writ big with food writ small.
