More Reasons NOT to Believe in God Reason #4 – Psychological Trickery Appeals to our psychology can be seen everywhere. just turn on the television and you’ll see everything, from an appeal to numbers or in other words the “everybody’s doing it!”tactic, or the appeal to sex, or the appeal to wealth, or the tactic of playing on people’s fears. One only has to watch fox news for 5 minutes to see how fear is a powerful tool in gaining an audience. There are products that promise easy money. there are products that promise social acceptance, like good friends, or better sex lives. There are even products that promise safety, and security from the dangers of the world. It’s difficult to deny that this psychology works for the most of us. Even when we do recognize the impersonal seduction of the TV ad and the shameless psychological tactics they imploy, many of us can’t deny our own impulses. In the end, we tend to avoid danger, and seek out… well….procreation, and those things which may maximize both. It’s easy to see why modern corporations would take advantage to this primal psychology. But, I ask, why would the creator of the universe, need to sink to these divisive psychological tactics? What gets me the most is not the rock bands, or the stylish Mtv like tv shows, or the promise of wealth and health, or the heartless threats of merciless agony. What gets me the most…is sexy jesus. @hibbabourgi the koran doesn’t even waste paper trying to prove allah, many a muslim has commented on this, although personally i think its because back in the day, and still today to a lesser degree, apostates are killed, so why waste the paper when you can kill them.

@hibbabourgi nothing to study? what about the hadith? or the original manuscripts of the bible? we have a decent amount to study. we can tell where it is likely that the gospel of mark was written based on text and known goings on at the time.
and i have been thinking about religion, and i would prefer evidence. i will not be swayed by emotional reasons. i want the sort of evidence that was supposedly given to the characters in the bible or muhammed. i don’t think that is so much to ask for.

@hibbabourgi before you make your claims, can you demonstrate they carry weight. in other words, don’t just make claims at best on faith, show that they are true.
for example, i am not scared of hell presumably for the same reason you are not scared of my ability to blow up your head with my psychic powers. you don’t think i have those powers and i don’t think hell or your god exists.

@hibbabourgi wouldn’t believing in allah make me a muslim, meaning i DO have to be a muslim to go to heaven? and i also will not credulously believe in allah, with no reason provided, and i will not worship allah if it is demonstrated that allah is real.
i require evidence to believe, as i want to have as many true beliefs and few false beliefs as possible.
