There’s a few echos in this speech…mirrored @ 1:11 & 1:20

This always seems to me a bit overwritten. It’s more like poetry than a speech, but I guess that’s the point.

Robert Plant is an impressive person. He praises Jimmy but in it we’re seeing one of the other great forces that rocketed Zeppelin to stardom; namely, the character of their lead vocalist.

I love these guys like brothers. I went to see them in 98 for my first concert when I was a kid. They cast a spell on me and I havent stopped playing guitar since.

They were traditional blues covers they were borrowing from. Brits have been doing it since the beatles.

I do understand that, but the thing is, that doesn’t mean that Robert Plant is obligated to reform with Led Zeppelin. He’s been able to move on, find magic in something different. We all must cope with these sorts of situations in life, with change. No one should be constantly insulting Robert Plant just because he doesn’t want to reform. Besides, John Bonham is dead. His son is not bad, but he isn’t the same person. You can’t replace anyone.

what do you mean though man?
March 21st, 2007 at 5:10 pm
all the music to it is original, just on some of their earlier songs they borrow lyrics.

yeah but man you’ve got to realize,Led Zeppelin was Jimmys baby. I mean think of how comfortable you would feel being a lead guitar player with JPJ and Bonzo keeping the feel and rythym for you. That was just jimmy,he doesnt feel the magic that he felt with other bands.

a perfect example of
“how to find big words for little things”

you’re right. Jimi recorded a song in jsut about every key and every genre. He could do anything he wanted and I’d say he could be shredding with Gilbert or Vai right now if he wanted to. He truly is one of the greatest guitarists, and musicians at that, that ever walked the Earth. The only person who has ever understood the guitar more was Hendrix himself.

Very well said…
What makes Jimmy so awesome is all different directions that his music takes you. If all Zeppelin songs sounded like Whole Lotta Love, they would not be the legends that they are today.
As a guitarist I have always been inspired by Jimmy’s creations.

There will never be another Bonham, the chemistry and the power he contributed to Zepplin lives. We lost so many GREAT! legends. Dying is part of living, no one is immuned, a reunion would be a tribute to him. I really wish Plant would join and do what he was born to do.

Even if the remaining members did re-unite, it just wouldn’t be Led Zeppelin without Bonzo. It’s not like we lost a “good” drummer, or a “good” vocalist, like AC/DC lost Bon Scott. He could be replaced, but finding another John Bonham is simply inconcievable. Robert Plant knows this, and that’s why he won’t do a reunion tour. At first, I disagreed with that choice, too, but as time progressed, I realized that he is making the right decision. After all, it was Plant who reccommended Bonzo.

It’s better that Robert can survive without Led Zeppelin. I like Jimmy Page, but it can’t be ignored that he hasn’t really attempted to do anything substantial outside of Zeppelin. Robert Plant has, and has been met with fair success. Good for him, he’s doing what he wants, he’s got a spine.

blah blah blah Robert. You aint nothin without Jimmy.

Ooh my gosh, can’t you people realise he’s talking about the divine inspirational forces, the gods or the muses etc, these evergoing “rumours” of the wicked one lives on because you guys entertain it, you silly gossipers…
Those guys were in a league of their own no doubt and just as he’s talking about the diversity and true creativity which signifies the music they created without repetition etc is at times quite divine in my and others opinions, use your ears and open up to the music!
