Genesis – Supper’s Ready [part 1]
Nov 29, 2010 Rock Bands
Genesis started life as a progressive rock band, in the manner of Yes and King Crimson, before a series of membership changes brought about a transformation in their sound, into one of the most successful pop/rock bands of the 1980s and 1990s. In addition, the group has provided a launching pad for the superstardom of members Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins, and star solo careers for members Tony Banks, Michael Rutherford, and Steve Hackett. Their roots go back to 1965 and a pair of rival groups, the Garden Wall and the Anon, formed by students at the Charterhouse School in Godalming, Surrey. They merged, with the result that 15-year-olds Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, and Michael Rutherford joined with 14-year-old Anthony Phillips, calling themselves the New Anon and recording a six-song demo featuring songs primarily written by Rutherford and Phillips. ________________________________________ Check lyrics here: www.sing365.com
Rare Earth – Get Ready (Live Solos)
Apr 10, 2010 Classic Rock
Finally! An open reel recorder. Bought this one at a pawn shop on the North Side. To run it I picked up some tapes from a thrift store. This is a recording I found on one of them. It’s recorded in 1/4 track mono so the full output of the machine won’t show, but I think it still sounds fine. Enjoy
Crash Kelly–hard Glam Rock With Renown Classical Guitarist Sean Kelly– Ready to Rock the Usa

The one characteristic I love about Warrior Records is the fact they take on independent music artists and turn them into great bands worldwide from Eddie Money, Benny Mardones to now Crash Kelly, lead by no other than Yamaha Classical Guitars spokesman Sean Kelly.
Crash Kelly, created from influences of mega-groups Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, KISS and Queen will be releasing third album, “One More Heart Attack,” on July 29th, but it is a debut CD with Warrior.
The new Crash Kelly band consists of Sean Kelly, on guitar and vocals, Gene Scarpelli (son of Gino Scarpelli, guitarist for Canadian hard rock legends GODDO, Tim Timleck on drums, and long time Crash Kelly co-hort Allister Thompson, who has switched from guitar to bass.
âThis is a really great group of classy rock pros, and they are all well-represented on the new album. âOne More Heart Attackâ coming to stores in America July 29th,â said vocalist and leader of Crash Kelly.
âWhat makes us different this time around is the fact that I brought in some different players, and also did some outside writing with Moe Berg on a few key tracks,â explained Kelly. âThis album is much more focused, and I think it’s sonically the best thing Crash Kelly has ever done. It also rocks a little harder.â
Kelly noted the new album has some classic rock input, too. Gilby Clarke (Guns N’ Roses, Rock Star: Supernova) helped produce the new album. It was the second time. âGilby has a great ear for arrangement, getting great guitar tones, and solid performances. I think we’re cut from the same cloth, musically speaking,â he said.
The Crash Kelly just finished up a Canadian tour with Gilby and his band, and now have their sights set on an American tour, which Kelly has not done since he toured with Alice Cooper in 2006. Dates to be announced.
Crash Kelly is already working on new projects. âActually, I was working on a record while were on the road, he said. âA Classical Guitar Christmas album. My first classical record, The #1 Classical Guitar Album, did quite well here in Canada, so we are following up with a Christmas album. It’s a nice change of pace from the rock stuff, and I approach it with the same integrity that goes into Crash Kelly.â

Sean grew up in North Bay Ontario, studying the classical guitar but also digging the sounds emanating form his 12 watt stereo system; Kiss, Van Halen, and Guns Nâ Roses had that little box bursting at the seams with THD morning, noon and night.
But the classics â he studied on. And learned, and learned and learned. Moving to Toronto in 1991, Kelly studied classical guitar at the University Of Toronto under Canadian virtuoso Eli Kassner (a man who has studied with the father of classical guitar, Andres Segovia). After university, Sean traveled the country in a number of different rock n roll outfits, but with the cries of his parents âget a real jobâ echoing in his head, he did just that. He found himself taken on by the Toronto Catholic School Board where he teaches Vocal Music at three different schools. Privately, he has been teaching all styles of guitar at the Lippert School of Music since 1995.
Kellyâs first two album outings, “Penny Pills” and “Electric Satisfaction” helped Crash Kelly procure industry acclaim and tours with rock luminaries including, Alice Cooper, Quireboys, Backyard Babies, as well as support slots with Mötley Crue, Poison, Cinderella, W.A.S.P., and many other hard rock heroes. Crash Kelly is currently embarking on a tour across Canada (U.S. dates to be announced) with ex-Guns N’ Roses axe man Gilby Clarke, who also produced half of the new tracks on the “One More Heart Attack” album.
When Yamaha Guitars (www.ClassicRocks.ca) commissioned their newly launched handcrafted guitar series, they asked if Kelly would consider representing their line of custom products.
“I was flattered to be considered by Yamaha,” he recalls, “and I will enjoy being their classical guitars spokesperson.” When not rocking the live venues, Kelly also actively produces and composes jingles, most recently being heard on a Pontiac commercial broadcast throughout venues across Canada.
Additionally, in 2005, Sean was selected out of thousands of entries by Guitar Player magazine to perform at the inaugural Guitar Hero Competition. As a Top 10 finalist, Sean performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, in front of celebrity judges Joe Satriani and Steve Lukather.
